The mental health system are innovators in bringing in

interdisciplinary heath care delivery teams. 

I imagine funding is what has encouraged this as many of these clients

are on disability or Medicaid.  By having

teams which can work together through the medical, mental, nutritional and

social aspects makes a huge difference in the overall quality, cost and time

dedicated to health care (APA, 2017).  It

avoids repetitive testing and unnecessary appointments and provides a concise

approach to focus on the entire patient and all aspects of their care in a

group format. I believe that this will have a better overall more cost

effective outcome for the patient.
