Columbia Journalism Review (Who Owns What?) Assignment

Visit the web site for the Columbia Journalism Review. The page I have directed you to below will lead you to a "resources" page on their web site. Using the drop down box on the left of that web page you will be able to choose a media company/corporation in order to identify all of their ownership holdings. The consolidation of media ownership has essentially consolidated the power of information in the hands of these companies. There is a top tier of ownership, meaning, there are approximately 6 of those companies that dominate the majority of media ownership.

Choose one of the following companies and tell me how many television, radio, publishing or production companies they own: Disney, GE, NewsCorp., etc... Then tell me how such ownership power might threaten democratic behavior in the United States.
