CMR 108 Discussion 4: Independent Contractors

Read these two articles -  "The Advantages and Disadvantages of Hiring an Independent Contractor (链接到外部网站。)链接到外部网站。" and "Should I Be an Employee or Independent Contractor? (链接到外部网站。)链接到外部网站。"

The U.S. Department of Labor and several states have been focusing on businesses that use independent contractors claiming that these contractors are really employees and should be classified as such.

1. After reading the articles, do you think the government should continue this enforcement effort or take off the pressure? Why?

2. Comment on the findings of two classmates. 

Make it a substantive conversation of the laws being discussed. "I agree" or "I disagree" or similar phrases are not enough of a response.
