Case Analysis Paper

This assignment aims to develop your analytical and critical thinking skills in the examination of intercultural interactions and conflict in various contexts. Here are some steps you can follow in the preparation and completion of the paper.

Choose a case of intercultural communication around the topics such as immigration issues, identity crisis, gay rights, racial relations, interracial marriage, international conflict/violence, religious dispute, media representation, cultural adaptation, etc. Provide specific information about the case in terms of time, place, development, background, and different perspectives on the case.

Analyze the case by applying the theory and concepts you have learned from this class and beyond such as history and power relations, causes of prejudice/stereotypes, identity development patterns, and cultural adaptation or contestation processes. Your analysis should include an identification of factors that contributed to the case and your position on these factors.

Evaluate the case from a cultural and ethical perspective and propose ways intercultural communication can help to improve the situation or ameliorate the relationships. 

The paper should be 5-6 pages in length, double space, and demonstrate citations from class readings and 3-5 additional sources outside the class readings. A bibliography of APA style is required.

The paper is worth 20 points out of 100 points for the class assignments. The grading criteria will include:

Clarity and information covered in the description of the case

Relevant application of the theories and concepts from class and additional readings

Critical thinking evidence in the expression of your own views

Insights in the suggestions of approaches and strategies

Technical components of the paper: organization, coherence, development, word choice and grammar.
