Unit Seven: “Your Choice”

The main purpose of this unit is to increase our understanding of the various forms of practice and worldviews within the religious tradition of your choice from the following list: Indigenous Religions of North America, Indigenous Religions of Africa, Jainism, Sikhism, Chinese Religions, Shinto, Zoroastrianism, or New Religious Movements.  This list is comprised of all those chapters in the textbook that we have not already been able to cover.

Here is what you should read for this unit : Pick one of the topics from the list above and read the relevant chapter in the textbook.

What to do : Write a three to five (3-5) page essay describing the major elements of the tradition you have selected. Your essay should include information, when available, regarding the historical origins, basic worldview and beliefs, important figures, ritual practices, holidays, and current state of the religious tradition you have chosen.
