The decision to release an inmate from prison early has been a much-debated topic for quite some time. Prepare a position paper about the issue of inmate early release. The purpose of a position paper or argument essay is to explain both sides of a controversy/issue and discusses why one is stronger or better than the other.

1. Write a 3-4 page (only), double-spaced essay. (Points will be deducted for not meeting [three full pages] or exceeding the page limit.)
2. Explain your side on this issue and the opposing side; highlight the differences between the opposing views.
3. Use solid reasoning and factual evidence to persuade the reader that your view is more valid or advantageous than the opposing view.  
4. Include an actual (real) example of a current incident to illustrate your position (document the source of the example; e.g.,The Miami Herald).

Your essay should be thorough, yet concise, in your own words, and in essay (APA) format.
