Mindy, a 55-year-old elementary school teacher, has been diagnosed with a brain tumor. She is admitted to the hospital for surgical intervention and after surgery learns that there was not success in removing the entire tumor. She has been given a prognosis of less than 1 year to live. Upon entering the room to perform an assessment the nurse hears Mindy yell "get out; you are just making me mad! Why can't you leave me alone?" The nurse knows that Mindy is experiencing grief.
