Case study: A second language in the American workplace

Lee's Nail Salon announced an English only policy after several clients complained about technicians speaking Vietnamese while they were having services done at the salon.  Two of the older Vietnamese employees, who were not proficient in English, continued to speak Vietnamese to each other and around customers despite reminders of the policy. The owner reprimanded the two employees,, concerned that clients expressed discomfort when they could not understand what was being said in their presence. After numerous warnings - and with no change in their behavior,  the owner terminated both employees. Under the advice of a Vietnamese attorney, both filed discrimination complaints against the salon.  To what extent was the owner justified in firing the employees?  Did he have an alternative? What were the ethical considerations?   How would you have handled this situation as an owner/supervisor?          Must be mla format
