Spring 2025
Career Project Rubric
Total Points: 100
You will create an individual presentation that includes a written portion, visual component, and class presentation/powerpoint submission. Each student will be required to write a paper and to create a powerpoint presentation. A very general guide for the length of the assignment is 5-10 pages for the report. Topics should relate to the students’ counseling focus--school or clinical mental health counseling--with a career emphasis. You may also choose to analyze your own (or someone you know) career development, using your preferred career development theory as the basis for your analysis. Outline and describe your progress, struggles, etc. in relation to your chosen career theory. You are encouraged to select topics that would benefit you in their future career aspirations while working with their specific population. Provide at least three references which helped to guide your research.

Career Project Proposal
1. What is your topic?
My topic will focus on Transcranial Magnetic stimulation.
2. What is your reason for choosing this topic?
I chose TMS as my topic because I am currently a TMS coordinator. TMS
holds a special place in my heart because it helps treat clients with
depression but everyone client has different experiences. Being a TMS
coordinator prepared me by working more hands on with my very own
clients and gave me an idea how to handle a caseload once I become an
LPC.
3. Which Career theory are you using as a model?
Trait-Factor Theory (John Holland)
4. How will this project benefit you?
This project will benefit me because there are several different variations of
TMS. I’m not too familiar with them all however, I will use this project to
learn more and implement my learning in my real-life career.
5. What do you expect to learn?
I expect to learn more in depth about the different variations of TMS how
they work differently from the variation I’m familiar with.
