Literary Criticism is an important branch of human knowledge. Some consider it “an informed analysis and evaluation of a piece of literature”. Others, like Matthew Arnold (1822-1888), considered it “a disinterested endeavor to learn and propagate the best that is known and thought in the world.”

Write about your own viewpoint about this topic by tackling these questions: -

  1. Is critical writing a type of science or literature? Why?
