In this sample, there are 50 coffee drinkers with heart disease, 20 non-coffee drinkers with heart disease, 30 coffee drinkers without heart disease, and 100 non-coffee drinkers without heart disease.
Scenario 2
A study investigates the link between wearing a helmet while cycling and sustaining a head injury in an accident. The researchers followed 100 cyclists who always wear helmets and 100 cyclists who never wear helmets for a specific period. During the study, 5 cyclists who wore helmets and 20 cyclists who never wore helmets sustained head injuries.
Instructions
Using the scenarios above, complete the following for each scenario.
- Identify the type of study design used in the scenario.
- Note a reason why you think this is the correct study design.
- Create a data table that displays the information in the scenario.
- Calculate the appropriate measure of association for the scenario.
- Show the formula that you are using for your calculation.
- Interpret the results of the calculation for the scenario.
- Make reference to your measure of association calculation.
Additionally, your submission will be assessed on:
- Convey purpose, in an appropriate tone and style, incorporating supporting evidence and adhering to organizational, professional, and scholarly writing standards.
Submission Requirements
- Length of Submission: There is no required length for your submission, but make sure you include all necessary parts for each scenario in the document that you submit.
