Instructions

· This assignment consists of writing a proposal for your own research project.

· You must use the “Dissertation Proposal Form.docx” template, placing your writings in every appropriate section.

· Save your document with the filename: FINAL_xxxxxxx (where xxxxxxx is your last name) and upload it to Moodle.

Task

Your proposal must include the following elements in each corresponding section of the proposal form:

I. Research title (10%)

Include a research title in one single sentence.

II. Introduction and Research Aim (10%) (200 words)

Explain the main aim of your research in a short paragraph.

Research Question (10%) (50-100 words)

A research question must be included. The research question is the core element of the research project.

Research Hypothesis (10%) (50-100 words)

A research hypothesis is a potential explanation to the research question, or a potential model to be tested (in other words, what you imagine, your guess, but based on some initial evidence).

Research Objectives (10%) (50-100 words)

A set of research objectives must be included (partial milestones of data collection and analysis you must achieve in order to answer your research question). Usually, they would be between 5 to 8, in bullet points.

III. Literature review summary (20%) (300-500 words)

· Main Concepts

· Main Theories

· Main Trends /current practices

The summary must include the main concepts, theories and trends related to the research area. It must establish the background and the circumstances of the research area, the theoretical framework to be used, and an explanation of the current practices. References to the bibliography must be included in Harvard style: (Author, Year)

IV. Methodology (20%) (300-500 words)

The intended methodology should be explained, including the following elements:

Purpose: exploratory, explanatory, correlational or descriptive

Approach: inductive, deductive or abductive

Methodologies: you must specify the types; Quantitative; based on numerical data or statistics, Qualitative; based on non-numerical data, or Mixed methods, if you intend to combine quantitative and qualitative data).

Primary data:

· Instruments (interviews, focus groups, survey, etc.)

· Sampling techniques:

· Sample size

· Sample selection method

· Target population

· Profile of the participants

Secondary data:

· Sources of secondary data

· Type/s of secondary data

· Use of the secondary data in the research

V. Bibliography list in Harvard style (10%) (100-300 words)

It must be done in Harvard style.

A list of at least 6 academic sources must be included.
