SETH econo 600(respond no more than 100 words)

Good morning, classmates! My name is Seth Kelsey, and I currently live in Little Rock, Arkansas. I am a 2nd Lt in the US Air Force and just completed initial pilot training in Nov, 2025. Both my awesome wife and I are currently waiting to start our follow-on training in the C-130 here at Little Rock! In the meantime, were getting as much of our masters done before we get too busy.

I grew up in Mariposa, California, which is right outside of Yosemite National Park. I actually spent the first few years of my life living in Yosemite Valley because my dad was a park ranger, so we lived in the provided park housing. Our house was right next to the base of Yosemite Falls, and the windows would actually rattle in the summer from how much water was falling next to our house.

I have five siblings, and we were raised in a protestant household. However, I also come from a Jewish heritage as my mom's side of the family is all Jewish. My great-grandma actually escaped from Poland at the age of twelve during World War 2. I also visited Israel on a trip fully funded by Birthright right after graduating from high school. Anyways, enough about my family.

After high school, I went to a preparatory school called North Western Prep School in 2019, where I met most of my best friends in life, including my wife! This prep school set me up nicely to attend the United States Air Force Academy, where I received my bachelor's in Systems Engineering, Human Factors. While at the Academy, I played on the Ultimate Frisbee Team, Handball Team, Powerlifting Team, and Esports Team for Rocket League. I was also lucky enough to participate in the glider program, powered flight program, parachuting program, and many other amazing opportunities provided by the Academy. After graduating from the Academy in 2024, I was sent to Enid, Oklahoma, to get my pilot wings!

I am taking this course to help improve my understanding of managerial economics in hopes that it will strengthen my knowledge in marketing. I am specifically interested in how this class may apply to Real Estate, as I am interested in investing in and starting my own side business with Real Estate. I hope that in the process of obtaining my degree in Business Administration, Marketing, I will learn the essential skills of managing, buying, selling, and analyzing the market for Real Estate. I am excited to get to meet all of you!

Taran(respond no more than 100 words)

Good morning everyone,

My name is Taran and I’m from a small town in Arizona. I just got out of the Marine Corps a couple months ago after spending nine years serving as an intelligence analyst. I spent time in California, Maryland, Japan, and even got to spend a few years working at the Pentagon in DC. Getting out has definitely been an adjustment but I’m making the most of it. I’m a pretty big nerd at heart, and I love all things Star Wars, Warhammer 40000, Lord of the Rings, and Fallout. I enjoy working out, reading, and spending time with my wife and newborn son. We are currently living in Maryland but will be moving to the west coast later this year.

I have no business experience, but I’ve learned a lot in the other business courses I’ve taken so far here at AMU. I’m very excited to be starting this course! I haven’t taken an economics class since my sophomore year of high school. If I remember correctly, there’s some sort of correlation between supply and demand. But in all seriousness, I’m hungry to learn and I hope to finish my MBA later this year and use it to get a good job when she gets orders. I’m also in the early stages of starting my own additive manufacturing company. I plan to use high end 3D printers to make parts of the government and military by bidding on government contracts. I look forward to learning more with all of you over the next eight weeks!

Gurung (respond no more than 100 words)

Hello class,

My name is Navin Gurung, and I am an active-duty member of the United States Air Force. I have over 12 years of military experience and have been working as a recruiter in New York City for 2 years. Academically, I have an associate's degree in Business Administration, Mechanical and Electrical Technology, and Human Resources, as well as a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. I am currently working towards my MBA program, and this will be my second class. I am excited to learn about managerial economics and hope to apply business decision-making skills and production strategies to a recruiting task. Besides being an Airman, I am a husband of 12 years, a father of 2 boys, and a dog owner. I am a family person, and I enjoy trying out different foods, learning about new cultures, and just living in the moment. Nice to meet you all, and looking forward to learning together.

Mallory (respond no more than 100 words)

My name is Mallory Kolmerten and I am currently the Administrative Officer at Fort Campbell High School. The job title is a bit vague, but basically I am directly under the Principal in terms of responsibility and authority. It can be a lot at times, but I am absolutely loving this position which I am fairly new to compared to some of my counter parts who have been in the role for more than 15 years. I am just hitting my one year mark, which means a step increase, if you are GS you know how good that feels! I am married and have two wonderful children, a freshman at Indiana University and a 6th grader. My husband and I have been married for 20 years and he serves in the Army, currently as an officer, switching a few years ago from Enlistment to finish out his 30 on the officer side. I have recently been given the opportunity to apply for a direct commission for the US Army and am working on my packet for that, while working full time, solo parenting while my spouse is deployed and working towards my MBA. My plate is full and over flowing, however I thrive in chaos and have been managing the work load thus far very successfully. As the school year winds down my job gets very hectic, so I am looking forward to welcoming that challenge as well. In doing some of the course reading this week, I find myself intrigued to find out more about the open to interpretation aspects of the law. In my dealings so far in life and work it has been pretty black and white. The opportunity to learn about the more gray and open for input side of law and ethics is something I am eager to delve into. Thanks for reading, I look forward to learning with you this course!

(150-200 words)Discussion Question 2: Maximization of Profit

In economics, the assumption of maximization of profit explains behavior of firm.  Profit is defined as total revenue minus total cost and profit is maximized at the level of production where total revenue exceeds total cost by the largest margin.  At what level of production would firm profit be maximized?  Would profit be maximized by producing the optimal output or the maximum output?
