I conducted my search primarily through Indeed and USAJobs, using search terms such as “cybersecurity analyst,” “security operations specialist,” “cybersecurity management,” and “information security analyst.” These keywords helped narrow results to positions related to digital security, risk management, and organizational protection.

This role aligns closely with my Career Development Plan, which outlines a progression from completing an MBA to pursuing a Master’s degree in Cybersecurity and eventually a Doctor of Global Security. A cybersecurity analyst role represents an important step toward that long-term goal because it allows professionals to apply both management and technical skills in protecting organizational and national infrastructure. It also provides experience analyzing cyber threats and implementing risk mitigation strategies, which are critical competencies for leadership roles in security and policy environments.

Overall, researching job postings helped me better understand the qualifications and skills required in the cybersecurity field. It also reinforced the importance of combining business leadership education with technical security knowledge in order to pursue advanced roles in global security and strategic decision making.

I recommend the YouTube video  “If I were jobless today, here’s exactly how I’d get a job (From a former CEO)” by The Companies Expert. In the video, the speaker explains how he would approach a job search if he had to start over today. Instead of relying heavily on posted job openings, he argues that job seekers should focus more on direct outreach, informational interviews, employee referrals, and targeting decision-makers rather than waiting for online applications to work. He also discusses ways AI tools such as ChatGPT can support job search research and message drafting.

I liked this video because it was practical and straightforward. It did not focus only on generic advice like “keep applying” or “update your resume.” Instead, it emphasized a more proactive strategy, especially the idea of tapping into the hidden job market and building connections directly with people who can make hiring decisions. I also appreciated that the speaker explained not only what methods he would use, but why he believes some common job search methods are less effective.

I think this is a valuable resource for classmates because it offers a realistic and strategic perspective on job searching that goes beyond traditional application methods.

I searched for a role that aligns with my longer-term career plan of moving into senior product leadership and eventually contributing at a more strategic, executive level. I used LinkedIn Jobs as my main search tool and focused on search terms such as “Senior Director Product Management,” “VP Product,” “Product Strategy,” “AI product management,” and “Houston product leadership.” I also narrowed my search to roles that connected product leadership with strategy, innovation, and business transformation rather than only technical product ownership.

One position I found that strongly fits my career goals is Senior Director, Product Management – Commercial Excellence with Bain & Company in Houston, Texas. According to the posting, the role focuses on owning the roadmap for AI and technology products, leading cross-functional teams, shaping go-to-market strategy, mentoring product managers, and working closely with leadership on long-term solution strategy. The posting also emphasizes experience with AI tools, product innovation, stakeholder alignment, and translating technical ideas for non-technical audiences.

This role aligns closely with my career plan because my goal is to continue growing from product management into broader strategic leadership. It especially fits my interest in digital transformation, AI-enabled operations, and leading product initiatives that produce measurable business results. What stood out to me most is that this role blends product leadership with business strategy, executive communication, and innovation, which are all areas I identified in my career development plan as important for my next stage of growth.
