It is a big question and supercomputers are making it possible to note what went on during the universe's birth, 13 billion years ago in trillion-degree Celsius temperatures during the Big Bang. Researchers at the University of Texas in Austin have used supercomputers to simulate the creation of the first galaxy, and NASA scientists have simulated the creation of stars from cosmic dust and gas. In addition to solving cosmic mysteries like these, supercomputers have many other applications.
