When: You should start with the basics to your staff. Having your staff understand the timeframe of the rollout will assist with problems that may arise with time off requests, and/or holidays.

Why: Having your staff understand the need for change, early on allows them to adapt and become used to the idea that it will be better for them and the company.

How: Creating an open dialogue with your staff about the changes, and providing a through training base for the new system will create a comfort zone for the staff. There may be areas that were overlooked, having your staff empowered to alert you when they see a problem area could save you time and money by fixing it before it is a problem.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, if you have planned ahead for the training and possible impact to sales you can reduce the risks of the ERP rollout. Education and hands on experience with the new system would be highly recommended to ensure that it will function the way you intend it to, and leads for less questions or problems in the future. Understanding the growth you have planned for the company to be in 5 or 10 years also helps with this rollout as you can plan for the upcoming goals and requirements when putting this system into place.
