What to do
Propose one small project before building it. Choose a use case from AI300_Capstone_UseCase_Catalog.pdf in Assignment Resources, General, or a specific alternative. Choose Track A (an AI-assisted workflow with human checks) or Track B (an agent with a clearly limited role).
What to submit
Submit one one-page DOCX or PDF with five fields: organization, user, problem, proposed success measure and track. State a testable target and how you will check it later. Do not claim results now. The guide explains each field.
No built artifact, test results, cost table, final evaluation or AI-Use Statement is required at this stage. No additional source file is needed for the proposal.
Before you begin
Any student may choose General. Plan a project you can later demonstrate with fictional, synthetic or permitted public inputs. You do not need private records or an employer login. MBA regulated-industry proposals retain the catalog's instructor-approval and applicable-framework condition. Suitable original proposals remain accepted. You do not need to redo or resubmit because of these clarifications, and an existing grade must not be reduced because of them.
Grading Criteria
Points
Use-Case Specificity. Assesses whether the proposal names a real, specific situation: the organization, the user the project serves, and the problem it solves. "Real, specific" means a concrete coherent situation, not a requirement for an actual employer or live professional deployment. Accept a supplied fictional organization, a clearly labeled student-created fictional organization or the optional General case, with a specific user and problem. No private records or extra research packet is required. Preserve suitable original proposals without required resubmission or lowering an existing grade.
50
The organization, user, and problem are all specific and consistent with the program catalog or a clearly described alternative. A reader could picture exactly who benefits and from what.
50 / 50
All three are named, but one is generic, such as an unnamed company or a vague user.
40 / 50
Two of the three are specific, and the problem statement is fuzzy.
30 / 50
The use case is mostly generic. It is hard to tell who this is for.
15 / 50
No recognizable use case.
0 / 50
Success Criterion and Track Fit. Assesses whether the proposal states how success will be measured and whether the chosen track, workflow or agent, fits the problem. The success measure is a proposed testable target with a later checking method, not demonstrated results at proposal stage. Safe student-controlled simulation with fictional, synthetic or permitted public inputs is acceptable. No existing build, live deployment or paid platform is required now. Preserve the catalog condition for MBA regulated-industry proposals without imposing a new approval requirement on every proposal.
30
The success measure is concrete enough to test at final delivery, and the track choice clearly fits the problem.
30 / 30
A success measure is stated but would be hard to test. The track fits.
24 / 30
The success measure is vague, or the track choice is unexplained.
18 / 30
No success measure, or the track contradicts the problem described.
9 / 30
Neither a success measure nor a track choice is present.
0 / 30
Completeness and Clarity. Assesses whether the proposal fits on one page, includes all five required elements, and is written clearly enough to act on. Assess the five named fields on one page. Do not require an AI-use statement, audit log, cost table, diagram, runbook, demonstration/test results or final written evaluation at this stage.
20
One page, all five elements present, clearly written.
20 / 20
All five elements are present, but the page runs long or one element has to be hunted for.
16 / 20
One element is missing.
12 / 20
Two or more elements are missing.
6 / 20
No proposal.
