Instructions You will develop a conference poster for this assignment depicting different business structures. This assignment includes two parts: Part 1 You are the director of the Small Business Administration and have been asked to present at a national business conference that depicts the various types of legal structures that organizations and businesses can consider. Many individuals considering starting new businesses will attend this conference and look for key information on how they should start their businesses. In addition to providing a workshop and some individual consulting, you have decided to develop a conference poster that clearly illustrates different business structure options. Review this week's resources before creating your poster to ensure it addresses your prospective business owner's questions and concerns. Specific requirements for the poster: · Describe the seven types of business structures. · Offer a brief benefit of each. · Identify a brief disadvantage of each. · Include at least one visual. Part 2 Visit the Academic Success Center (ASC) in the link below and browse the many different resources available to students. Then, write one paragraph using a separate Word document to reflect on what you believe was helpful in the ASC site. Please use the Student Paper Template as your starting point for papers in this course and future courses. Length: 1-page conference/academic poster. Reflection on the ASC site is one paragraph in a separate Microsoft Word document. References: Include a minimum of 1 scholarly resource among the resources you use for the assignment. Understanding Business Structures
The 21st century is changing the way many organization owners do business. One fundamental change that affects business is the rapid growth of technology, which is harnessed in innovative and competitive ways to reach consumers via social media and websites. The role of artificial intelligence and how it can affect or facilitate business is just not being discovered. Another critical change involves an increasingly transparent and socially conscious world. Modern consumers expect much from a business regarding social responsibility, quality, and dependability. For example, social responsibility includes consistently creating diverse and equitable work environments, green awareness such as recycling, and reducing the company's carbon footprint. The pandemic challenged many organizations to re-think how businesses should operate, from remote workplaces to a move to a more robust online marketplace.
As you work through this week, you will learn the foundations of setting up a 21st-century business by understanding structures that will deliver the best outcome for the owners. As noted in sba.gov, business structures remain the same, except for adding a sub-type S (that meets specific IRS requirements) and C (where owners or stakeholders are taxed separately from the entity) to corporations.
There are seven main structures to consider choosing for a business and three different types of corporate structures. Depending on the company's mission and vision, the owner must decide which structure is best suited for their business. A structure can be changed through the state legal system. Different structures provide owners more legal protection and tax benefits than others, as you will notice when reviewing irs.gov.
Hover your mouse over each business structure to learn more.
· Sole Proprietor – A business run by the owner; it is the most used structure.
· Partnership – A business owned and managed by two or more people.
· Limited partnership – A business that a general partner with unlimited liability runs. Any other partners have limited liability in the business.
· LLC – Limited Liability Company protects the owner(s) from losing personal assets in most cases.
· Non-Profit – 501(c)(3) has special IRS tax-exempt status and is organized to do charity or other specific work.
· Co-Op - A cooperative business is owned and organized by the people using its services.
· Corporation – C Corp is a legal entity and exists separately from the owner(s).
· Subchapter S corporations – S Corp are taxed on a "flow-through" basis. This means that tax liabilities from income are passed onto the corporations' shareholders to be declared individually.
· B Corporation - also B Lab or B Corp is a private certification of for-profit companies of their "social and environmental performance."
Your resources for this week will explain these in detail. You may do additional research to explore business structures further.
Use the APA guidelines (7th ed.) to write and format papers, including a title page, content headings, and a reference page.

Vision:
The Academic Success Center strives to promote academic achievement by working collaboratively with students and faculty to promote learning and engagement as lifelong consumers of knowledge.
History
The Academic Success Center (ASC) launched in June 2014. In the beginning, sessions were focused on assisting students with writing and statistics assignments. In 2016, a major paradigm shift occurred during which the center moved away from a tutoring model focusing on a specific deliverable toward an academic coaching model with a focus on skill development. During the same year, the live chat feature launched, providing students with a venue to ask quick questions and receive immediate assistance. Two years later, the Academic Success Center transitioned the ASC Chat service and website to the Springshare platform. The new platform provided students with more modes (text, email, and live chat) to access ASC services.
The data-driven refinement and expansion of the services available in the ASC is an ongoing process. In FY20, the ASC expanded the hours that the chat service was available to include evenings and weekends. During that same time, the number of interactive weekly group sessions increased from 17 to 25, and individual coaching opportunities were increased to meet the needs of the NU community. One of the most notable additions to the ASC during FY20 was the expansion of support to include legal writing. In addition to the ongoing expansion of services, during FY21, the ASC launched a proofreading service to support students working to prepare their dissertation manuscripts for publishing.
