I currently reside in Youngstown Ohio with my husband and 2 children who are 6 and 4 years old. I am currently serving in the Air Force Reserve, of which I have been on Active Duty the last 4 years. I am in the process of transitioning back into Traditional Reservist status and my federal civilian position. I live an active lifestyle to which I enjoy working out and eating healthy. I am taking this course to improve my strategic thinking mindset and my abilities to analyze complex situations.

A for-profit company I have previously worked for is Regal Entertainment Group. Regal Entertainment Group is a major U.S. movie theater chain founded in 1989, now operating as a subsidiary of Cineworld Group, with over 400 locations nationwide. It specializes in multiscreen cinema experiences and serves the entertainment industry. Regal Entertainment Group applies the balanced scorecard to ensure strategic alignment along four dimensions: financially, by focusing on profitability and control of costs via box office and concession revenue, while managing the debt load from its acquisition; from a customer perspective, to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty through enhanced formats, mobile apps, and the Regal Crown Club reward program; internally, the company focuses on operational efficiency and innovation through investment in digital ticketing, and enhanced theater upgrades that help drive ease of service delivery; and finally, for learning and growth, employee training and adaptability remain key to ensure the right workforce and culture for evolving industry trends, such as streaming and shifting consumer preferences.

Now I’m back to pursue my master’s in business administration: Government Contracting and Acquisition to make myself marketable in the civilian sector after I hang my uniform up in the future. My goal is to secure a federal job and continue my government service. I am taking this course because it is mandatory for my education plan and to gain insight & understanding of the strategic management aspect of business. The for-profit organization I chose to discuss is Walmart, founded in 1962 by Sam Walton, and is one of the largest retail corporations in the world. Operating in the retail industry, Walmart is recognized for offering a wide range of products, including groceries, electronics, clothing, and household goods. It is well known for its cost leadership strategy, offering low prices through efficient supply chain management and economies of scale. In terms of the balanced scorecard,  Walmart would apply the four components of the balanced scorecard would be:  Financial Perspective: Walmart’s financial success hinges on its ability to maintain cost leadership, optimize operations, and maximize profitability.
