The end-of-chapter exercises provide hands-on practice with applications for the concepts learned in this module. Exercise 6-18 Website Application explains how to build a simple framework for the website Heritagedogs.com. You will build a simple website using an AI-assisted application.  A couple of free ones are  Godaddy and  Wix .  Here is a free GoDaddy website, for example,  Heritage Dogs,  that I put together using their AI-assisted software.

The application exercise shows an example of creating a simple website with HTML language. However, AI applications are making simple websites quite easy to put together by simply explaining what you want to offer.  Choose any hobby or fun business idea you have thought about to create a simple one-page website. Explain how this simple website can be expanded to provide additional content for visitors to HeritageDogs.org.

In Class Projects (Weeks 1 & 3)

You will be challenged with a presentation type assignment during class.  The instructor will provide specific instructions on how to complete the assignments at the onsite meetings on Weeks 1 and 3. 

Week 1- 11/26:  It is understood that our first class meeting is close to the Thanksgiving holiday.  Therefore, if you cannot make it to class on 11/26 you will not be penalized.  However, you will still need to adhere to the following assignment:

Instructions:  Write a 2-3 page APA formatted paper introducing yourself i.e. hometown, current profession, why you chose homeland security and emergency management as a major and what your future plans are after earning your degree.  This paper is due no later than Monday, 12/1/25 by 11:59pm.

Week 3- 12/10:  All students must attend this class to participate in the exercise prescribed at that time/date to earn points.  Failure to participate during this project will result in a loss of points.  There will be NO makeup assignments for missing this exercise.

The final report must provide complete and equitable treatment of all  issues. Address all of the issues in a consolidated way, making linkages between the issues where appropriate and logical.

Your external research should be integrated to provide logical support for your consolidated examination of the fundamental ideas being expressed. All submissions must include the following technical components:

· A cover or title page with your name on it.

· Labeled topical headings (e.g., Introduction, Discussion, Conclusion, Recommendations, etc.).

· Length: The report must contain a body of text of at least 4 pages double-spaced.

· A reference page containing a minimum of five (5) course-external resources used and cited in the report.

· References cited at the end of the report must be cited in text to illustrate how they were used.

· Written in APA Style.
