PROJECT STEPS
As an event coordinator at Advantia Biotech, you are drafting a cover letter and information sheet about an upcoming biotechnology conference for your manager, Keisha Ballantyne. Insert the missing letterhead picture for the cover letter as follows:
Copy the letterhead picture from the document Support_WD365_2021_3a_Letterhead.docx.
Paste the picture in the first blank paragraph at the top of the letter while keeping source formatting to preserve the original design of the letterhead.
In the blank paragraph below the letterhead picture, insert the current date using the May 5, 2021 format.
On page 2, format the picture of the Advantia Biotech logo as follows to correct its placement:
Flip the picture so that the logo text is horizontal.
Change the position of the picture to Position in Top Right with Square Text Wrapping.
Use the Format Painter to copy the formatting from the paragraph "Seventh Annual Conference on" to the paragraph "Hosted by Advantia Biotech" to draw attention to the host company.
Change the font size of the paragraph "Conference Highlights" to 16 point to match the font size of other main topic headings.
Clear the formatting from the paragraph "The Innovations in Biotechnology…research and application." to remove the distracting formats.
Format the picture of the conference attendees as follows to improve the clarity of the picture and add alt text for screen readers:
Apply the Brightness: +40% Contrast: +20% correction.
Add the following alt text description to the picture: People attending the 2020 conference
On page 3, add SmartArt as follows in the blank paragraph after the "Conference Programs" heading to describe the four tracks of programs:
Insert the Basic Matrix SmartArt from the Matrix section of the SmartArt gallery.
In the upper-left shape, type 1 and press ENTER, and then type Testing as the track description. ( Hint: If using the Text Pane pop-up, press SPACE instead of ENTER.)
In the upper-right shape, type 2 and press ENTER, and then type Material as the track description.
In the lower-left shape, type 3 and press ENTER, and then type Medical as the track description.
In the lower-right shape, type 4 and press ENTER, and then type Energy as the track description.
Format the SmartArt as follows to make it more attractive:
Change the colors to Gradient Range—Accent 1.
Change the SmartArt style to Subtle Effect.
Set a tab stop at 6" with the Right alignment and Leader option 2 (the dotted leader) for the paragraph "Days 1 and 2 May 10 & 11" to match the formatting of the program description line for Day 3.
Complete the table for Days 1 and 2 and format it as follows to be consistent with the table for Day 3:
Insert a row at the end of the table.
In the new row, enter the data shown in Figure 1.
Apply the Grid Table 4—Accent 1 table style to the table.
Figure 1: Row to Insert
On page 4, add a border to the heading paragraph "Dallas City Attractions" as follows to separate the page from the rest of the document:
Apply a Top Border to the paragraph.
Change the line style of the border to dashed. ( Hint: The dashed style is the third option in the Style list.)
Change the color of the border to Turquoise, Accent 1, Darker 25%.
Change the width of the border to 1½ point.
Format the Dallas picture in the "Dallas City Attractions" section as follows to make the picture and the corresponding text easier to read:
Flip the Dallas picture horizontally to orient the text properly.
Change the text wrapping to Tight.
Recolor the picture to use Turquoise, Accent color 1 Light.
In the blank paragraph in the "Dallas City Attractions" section, insert a table as follows to provide suggested attractions:
Insert a table with two columns and four rows.
Add text to the table as shown in Figure 2.
Figure 2: Table to Insert
Format the "Submit Abstracts" shape in the "For More Information" section as follows to apply a design similar to the "Registration" shape:
Change the shape style to Moderate Effect—Red, Accent 6.
Apply the Tight Reflection: Touching shape effect from the Reflection gallery.
Insert a shape as follows to complete the options available at the Advantia Biotech website:
Insert a Rectangle: Rounded Corners to the right of the "Submit Abstracts" shape. [Mac Hint: Rounded Rectangle]
Add the text Brochure to the new shape.
Resize the shape to a height of 0.6" and a width of 1.1".
Position the shape using an absolute horizontal position of 2.9 to the right of the column and an absolute vertical position of 0.03 below the paragraph.
Use the Format Painter to apply the formatting of the "Registration" shape to the new "Brochure" shape.
Check the Spelling & Grammar in the document to identify and correct any spelling errors. ( Hint: Ignore names.)
Your document should look like the Final Figure on the following pages. (Note: After completing Step 2, your document will show the current date.) Save your changes, close the document, and then exit Word. Follow the directions on the website to submit your completed project.
