Analysis Paper #1
In my role within Kuyper College, my focus lies squarely on the financial heartbeat of our operations, a realm that stands distinctly apart from the daily complexity of human resources. As a key member of the team working under the Chief Financial Officer, my responsibilities are centered on diligent financial management and reporting. Each day begins with a careful review and entry of journal transactions or daily deposits, where accuracy and attention to detail are most important. I am tasked with ensuring that every entry aligns seamlessly with our financial protocols and regulatory requirements. This responsibility extends to reconciling accounts, analyzing discrepancies, and maintaining the integrity of our financial records, a task that requires a good eye for detail and a good understanding of financial principles. Another critical part of my role involves the accurate entry of credit card statements. I navigate through complex financial data, carefully recording each transaction and ensuring our financial records are up-to-date and accurate. This task demands precision and a systematic approach, as even the smallest error can have significant implications for our financial reporting and decision-making processes for the final year and could affect government funding.
Working under the guidance of our Chief Financial Officer, I am part of a team dedicated to financial stewardship and strategic planning. Our collaboration is rooted in a shared commitment to fiscal responsibility and transparency, as we work hard to uphold our organization's financial health and integrity. I don’t get the daily interaction of working with recruiting or handling administrative tasks related to employee records, payroll processing, and maintaining HR databases. I also don’t manage legal requirements related to employment documentation and record-keeping. While I deeply appreciate the essential role of human resources in creating a positive work environment and supporting our talented team members, my focus remains steadfastly fixed on the numbers, spreadsheets, and financial strategies that underpin our organization's success. My days are filled with the challenges and rewards of financial management, where my contributions are measured not in interpersonal dynamics but in the clarity and accuracy of our financial reporting.
I think we as an organization could improve our financial reporting of the credit card statements by using new technology and software systems that report your finances automatically when you use the card. I think we need to create a policy that makes the employees enter their credit card reconciliation easier and more efficiently to where it automatically codes what they spent that day. I also think we need to create a better way to file records and have specific instructions on the naming conventions where they get filed and why they are filed the way they are to give a better understanding of the standard we are trying to uphold in the office but as well as for Kuyper as a whole. Communication is a big factor I would like to improve in the business office because it's hard to always ask someone something they have already done and submitted. Communicating in a proper way that everyone is heard and shown equal respect helps the work environment and an ease for asking questions from one another without feeling a status of position. Although I think there are many strategic ways to improve there are a lot of good things that present as an organization. For example, the community being together and working together when have new students or events. As well as everyone being kind and polite to each other and willing to be open to others. I also like how we as an organization empower students to have a role in how the school runs and presents.
After hearing all the intern’s job descriptions and how their organizations run I think Kuyper is in a good position, but think Kuyper could be more open to its community like New City Neighbors. I think they could get together with all the colleges on the beltline and have an event to inform about all the schools as well as push the mission of the school with Christ. I also think Kuyper could take more time with each student to learn more about them and how to push each student to their fullest potential. I think Kuyper could focus on these things to make them better and bring more students and people awareness about them and push the mission of Christ and serving God. Overall Kuyper has pros and cons to its organization that can always be improved.

Evaluating Marketing and Communication Strategies at Kuyper College
During my internship at Kuyper College, I had the opportunity to observe the institution’s marketing and communication practices. This experience provided me with valuable insights into how the college promotes itself and interacts with its stakeholders. In this paper, I will evaluate the effectiveness of Kuyper College’s marketing and communication strategies and offer recommendations for improvement.
Kuyper College’s marketing and communication efforts are crucial for its success in attracting students and engaging with the community. The college’s marketing strategies primarily focus on digital channels, including social media, emails, and the college website. Traditional marketing methods, such as print brochures and promotions, also play a role. Internal communication is managed through regular updates to faculty and staff, while external communication includes public relations and community outreach efforts.
From my perspective, digital marketing strategies are a weak suit for Kuyper College. The college has a presence on major social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram. I observed that these channels are actively used to share news, highlight student achievements, and promote events. The emails and brochures, which target prospective students and alumni, are well-organized and visually appealing. However, I noticed that the college’s website, while informative, could benefit from a more modern design and better user experience. For instance, the design could be more enthusiastic to make it appealing for prospective students to be interested when seeing a fancy website.
In terms of internal communication, the college employs a range of methods to keep faculty and staff informed. Regular emails and departmental meetings are the primary tools for disseminating information. While these methods are effective, I feel that there is room for improvement in terms of integrating feedback from staff into the communication process. Currently, there is limited opportunity for staff to provide input on internal communications in certain departments, which can sometimes lead to gaps in understanding or engagement.
External communication, on the other hand, includes efforts such as press releases, community events, and collaborations with local organizations. These initiatives help to build Kuyper College’s presence in the community and create positive relationships. Nevertheless, the college could enhance its public relations efforts by increasing media outreach and leveraging partnerships more strategically to boost its visibility.
In evaluating the effectiveness of these practices, I observed Kuyper performance and activity on social meadia. For digital marketing social media and email open rates are key factors in today to attract students. I googled that the college’s social media posts generally receive a good level of interaction, which suggests that the content resonates and creates relationships with the audience. However, email open rates could be improved, as some campaigns seem to have lower engagement than anticipated.
The college’s conversion rates—how effectively it turns inquiries into applications—also reflect the effectiveness of its marketing efforts. Although there is no concrete data available on conversion rates, informal evidence suggests that prospective students are generally responsive to marketing materials. This indicates that the current strategies are somewhat effective but may benefit from additional refinement.
One of the main strengths of Kuyper College’s marketing and communication practices is the consistency of its messaging of kuypers mission statement as a christian school. The college’s brand identity is clear across its various channels, which helps to build a coherent image. However, the weaknesses lie in areas such as the website user experience and the integration of feedback in internal communication.
To enhance its marketing and communication strategies, I recommend several improvements:
1. Revamp the Website: Updating the website’s design would significantly enhance the user experience. A more modern, user-friendly site could better engage prospective students and provide easier access to essential information.
2. Leverage Data Analytics: Implementing advanced data analytics tools can help the college better understand audience preferences and tailor marketing efforts more effectively. This could improve email open rates and overall engagement.
3. Integrate Feedback: Establishing formal channels for staff to provide feedback on internal communications could help to address gaps and improve overall engagement within the organization.
4. Expand Public Relations Efforts: Increasing media outreach and exploring more strategic partnerships with local organizations could enhance the college’s visibility and strengthen its community ties.
In conclusion, my internship at Kuyper College provided valuable insights into its marketing and communication practices. While the college has solid strategies in place, there are clear opportunities for improvement. By revamping the website, leveraging data analytics, integrating feedback, and expanding public relations efforts, Kuyper College can further enhance its marketing effectiveness and strengthen its overall communication strategy.
