By limiting foreign ownership and competition in the telecom industry, the Canadian government is favouring Canadian firms relative to their global rivals. Explain why the federal government should play the role of guardian of these Canadian telecom firms. On the flip side, explain why the government should not protect the existing players from more foreign competition.
