According to our text, “Beta testing is testing where the training takes place in the real-time trainee environment where all intended users participate” (Kopp, 2014). Pilot and beta tests examine the trainees' reactions to the training. They’re apart of formative evaluation. Apple comes out with new products throughout the year and beta testing is needed to make sure their products are running as they should. However, with the hacks and jailbreaking on the iphone, Apple considers the people who will try to do just that. According to the article, Apple had another beta redesign. “The beta update likely signals the end of using evasi0n to hack new or updated devices after the update is released to users” (Greenburg, 2013). Apple has to beta test their products to check if it will be conflicting with the programmers. By testing prior to the release, Apple can end jailbreaking and ensure their training program is being fulfilled. Apples program meets the criteria because the software is released for the intended users. Apple then observes and doesn’t interrupt immediately. “Apple's slow response to evasion is explained in part by the relatively low security risk that the tool poses” (Greenburg, 2013). Then they create a plan and goals to reduce the software hack by their updates.

Beta testing is testing where the training takes place in the real-time trainee environment, all intended users participate (Kopp, 2014).  The Apple’s beta-test meets the criteria by having one of the creators of a jail breaking software test the new update that is supposed to prevent their jailbreak.  David Wang did the update on an Apple iPhone to make sure that the use of the evasion software would no longer be allowed on the iPhone.  This update was done in a real-time environment with no interruption (Kopp, 2014).  He was able to see what other users will see when they do the update and try to use the evasion jailbreak.  "If one of the vulnerabilities doesn't work, evasion doesn't work," he says. "We could replace that part with a different vulnerability, but [Apple] will probably fix most if not all of the bugs we've used when 6.1.3 comes out." (Greenberg, 2013).  By doing beta testing Apple can make sure that any bugs that need to be fixed can be.  Having someone test the update to fix issues in real time helps Apple see what their consumers will see and it also helps them to know if the update worked to correct what they wanted or if they need to do more in order for that to take place.
