book review
Book: George Mosse, Toward the Final Solution. A History of European Racism. Madison: The University of Wisconsin Press, 1978.
Your final paper for this course will consist in a book review. A book review is a brief article, in which the book (in this case an history book) is summarized and evaluated. There can be many kinds of book review. What I ask is a 3-pages paper, usually structured in four paragraphs (Introduction + Summary; Strengths; Flaws; Overall assessment). More specific indications will be provided to you as the semester progresses. The goal of the book review is to enrich your knowledge of a particular historical topic and to test your ability to grasp the arguments and sense of a historiographical academic work. For the book review you must pick one of the books enlisted at the end of the syllabus. The text of the review should be double-spaced, in 12pt Times New Roman or Garamond font, with 1inch margins and justified. I will not accept e-mailed copies, so please hand me a hard copy of your book review by the indicated date.
