 A 3-4 page argumentative paper (double spaced).  Here are some options:

1. Case Analysis Paper. Explain a problem and how it is illustrated by one or more case studies. I want you to argue for a particular way in which the problem should be solved. What principles support your view?  If you choose to do this, please write on a different topic than your first paper.  
2. In our class, we had a discussion about the distinction between what James Rachels calls active and passive euthanasia.  Is there a moral difference between killing someone and letting them die?  Provide an argument for your position. 
3. Explain John Harris' survival lottery scheme.   Formulate the best objection you can think of against Harris' proposal.  Does this objection succeed?  Argue one way or the other. 
4. In class, we looked at the issue of pharmacological enhancement.  It is common for certain prescription drugs to be used without a documented medical need in order to obtain some kind of cognitive or psychological benefit.  Is this unethical?  If you think so, provide an argument for why this is unethical.  If you think it is permissible, then examine what you think is the strongest argument for why one might think doing this is wrong and counter it.
