Assignment Overview
Strategic planning in healthcare typically involves a number of people with diverse ethnicities, various ages, multiple race groups, and different experiences. An interdisciplinary approach involves team members from different disciplines working collaboratively, with a common purpose, to set goals, make decisions, and share resources and responsibilities. Strategic plans are designed to build an inclusive environment, plan for the equity of the organization, and to develop objectives to support viability. Examining external industry competition aids in gauging and designing performance measures to meet prospective goals.
Case Assignment
In a 2-page paper, answer the following questions:
1. What roles do boards of directors, C-Suite employees, physicians, general employees, and the community play in a healthcare organization’s strategic- planning process?
2. Does the diversity of a healthcare organization’s staff have any impact on the strategic-planning process? Explain your rationale.

STRATEGIC PLANNING AND PROCESSES
Throughout the duration of this course, you will build a strategic plan for a healthcare affiliated program (e.g., Telemedicine Services for Cancer Patients in Rural South Carolina) of your choice. You will build upon the strategic plan throughout the SLP assignments in this course.
For your Module 1 SLP, identify a healthcare-affiliated program that you are interested in researching and developing a strategic plan for. Your topical area should be specific and cater to a particular population and/or area. In 2–3 pages, complete the following in Part 1 of your strategic plan:
Title Page: Identify the title of your strategic plan. (This section is not to be included in the 2–3 page count).
Topic Relevance: In 1–2 paragraphs, explain your topic selection and its importance to the identified population and/or area.
Mission and Vision Statements: The mission and vision statements explain what your plan is trying to achieve. Your mission and vision statements should each be 1 or 2 sentences followed by a paragraph (for each statement) of explanation. SWOT Analysis: In this section, complete an analysis of your Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats for your topical area.
