Except if you are discussing a weight fryer, they can be somewhat expensive. I have never had a weight cooker 'whistle' so I don't what your discussing there. What's more, the durable ring? It's a replaceable elastic gasket.
A fundamental 6 quart Mirro or Presto can cost $40 - $60 dollars.
I have a vintage Mirro canning cooker from the 50's. It works incredible and the gaskets are as yet made. I have a Presto littler rendition that I purchased a couple of years prior for about $35.
