What are the NAEP expectations for describing reading proficiency? Which of these expectations are sensible, and which need to be adjusted? What do you think of the challenges NAEP expectations present to students? Are these challenges reasonable? How far beyond NAEP-type expectations should instruction go? How can educators help improve reading proficiency?
