Grading Breakdown and Criteria for Assignments The write-up needs to have two paragraphs. In the first paragraph, discuss a piece of news that came out that week regarding the industry. In the second paragraph, assess the news source you used.
Maximum number of points for Each News Post = 50 points.
- If nothing is turned in by the deadline = 0 points
- If the post is made by the deadline, the 50 points are distributed as follows:
- The first 20 points will be a link to a reputable news source with the publishing date (see examples of reputable news sources in this syllabus). The TA must be able to access the article to get credit!
- The second 30 points relate to the two paragraphs required for the assignment.

● 15 points for the second paragraph where the source of news is analyzed. what is the audience targeted by that news source; can you identify any
inherent biases that news source may have (for example: do they have an agenda and if so, what is it; who is their target audience; do they have a particular political leaning; do they express the views of the owner, who is the owner and what are their views; are they pro- or against a particular industry, country, or policy issue). This second paragraph can be shorter, sometimes a couple of sentences may suffice as long as the required content is covered.

Source link (20 points): https://www.iea.org/news/energy-ministers-and-decision-makers-take-
part-in-high-level-iea-roundtable-on-strengthening-energy-infrastructure-resilience
Published 01 October 2025.
The international energy agency hosted a high-level roundtable, led by energy ministers
and decision-makers, to deliberate on how to make energy infrastructure far more resilient to
increasing risks of extreme weather, cyberattacks, or a disrupted geopolitical architecture. It
focused on mobilizing faster investment in grid-hardening, supply chain diversification, demand-
side flexibility and regional cooperation to maintain continuity of electricity and essential fuels
in crisis situations. Practical policy solutions defined at the meeting included specified resilience
financing, risk assessment standards, and quick-reaction grid restoration procedures, and it
positioned resilience and decarbonization targets as manufacturers to suggest that climate
adaptability and clean energy application should be inculcated in country guidelines.
The IEA targets policymakers, planners and analysts in the energy sector, as well as the
international institutions where IEA magazines are distributed target the policy makers in
governments as well as in the industries, the IEA publications are intended to influence these
professionals to make evidence-based decisions on policies and prescriptions which are valid and
reliable. The institutional role of the agency is to promote secure and sustainable energy, which
may generate a balance towards multilateral policy solutions, market stability and
recommendations that favor coordinated government-industry action; it is important to remember
that the IEA engages in close working relationships with OECD governments and large-scale
energy companies when determining its emphasis on large-scale infrastructure investment and
internationally coordinated responses.
