For this assignment answer the following questions.  You can just put the question number followed by your answer.  Your answers should be about a paragraph long.  Make sure to answer the question and provide plenty of facts and details to support and elaborate on your  answers.  A good analogy to use is the hamburger analogy--I don't want just a bun and a hamburger patty--I'm looking for bacon, cheese, lettuce, onions, mayo, mustard, and pickles.

1.  Describe these basic parts of the Sun: photosphere, chromosphere, corona, sun spots, prominences, flares, spicules, and granules.

2.  Give a step-by-step explanation of how the Sun is able to "create" energy in its core using nuclear fusion.  Be very detailed.

3.  Explain how the Sun is able to transport energy away from its core to the photosphere and explain how that energy gets to Earth.

4.  Describe some of the things that have been observed on and around the Sun using visible light, ultraviolet, and x-ray telescopes.

Bonus--explain how the Sun's changing magnetic field causes things like sunspots, solar flares, and prominences
