1.      Locate a performance of music within the genre of popular music that includes a very unusual instrument or includes a vocalist with a very unusual quality in their voice.

2.      Find a recording on youtube  (or other online site like vimeo, for example) and include link for others to listen.

3.      Listen thoughtfully to your chosen piece and discuss the following in your initial post for this week’s forum:

a.       List the name and composer of your chosen piece.

b.      Describe the voice/instrument using the key terms and concepts from chapters 5-8 (Form, Timbre, Rhythm and Meter, and Melody).

4.     Respond to other classmates’ posts. Simply saying “good job” or “great post” is not sufficient.

The initial post is due Thursday (midnight, est) and follow up responses are due Sunday (midnight, est)
