Industry Worksheet Assignment
UNIT 5 ASSIGNMENT
INDUSTRY WORKSHEET
In the lecture notes for Unit 5- part 2, there is an opportunity to take a career assessment using Office of Higher Education Interest Assessment tool https://www.minnstate.edu/careerexploration/planningtools/interest-assessment/index.html
1. Take the assessment. When you review your results and reflect on the three areas where you have the highest scores. For example, I am highest in Realistic, Artistic, and Conventional. Answer the question by not only sharing the results but reflecting on whether you feel that it accurately describes you or fails to and why.
2. Then look at the career clusters of interest for each of your top three and see what careers are similar between your top three. Select one of these that you believe is aligned with your skills and interests (it does not have to be one in which you are currently employed). Once you have identified your career area you will conduct some research on this career and its industry. Describe the career field, it’s career cluster, and its industry cluster. Here is a direct link to the cluster’s website
https://ctecreditmn.com/files/ClusterWheel.pdf
3. Research what the future looks like for this career field- how do the 4 factors discussed in the lecture notes (UNIT 5 part 1) impact the future of the career- they may not all apply?
4. How does education impact the career ladder for this career? Think about income, benefits (monetary and personal), and the leadership aspects.
5. Take the transferable skills inventory that is discussed in the lecture notes (UNIT 5 part 2) Transferable skills and your 2020 job search.pptx and relate your transferable skills to the needs of the career field in the future.
This assignment is due by the end of Unit 5- see your syllabus for the date. Submit the answers in the quiz section of the assessments tab. I advise you to type out your answers on a word document then do spell check and grammar check. When done editing then copy and paste it into the answer box. This way you have a copy of your answer in case you need to edit it or it something happens. You do have the ability to go in and revise your answers.
