Chapter 9:

1. The text talks about the biological bases of hunger.  Comment on how the environment contributes to hunger, especially the extremes.  Discuss this contribution of the environment to both obesity and eating disorders.

2. Of the theories presented in your text on emotion, which one do you find most compelling and why?

Chapter 11:

1. What is about stress that is so, well, stressful?  Your text examines it from a biological perspective.  Develop an argument based on external environmental causes of stress.

2. Lower animals (dogs, cats, and other pets) seem happy and content having what Maslow referred to as their basic needs met.  What is it about people that makes us different in terms of achieving happiness?  We can have food, water, and even substantial wealth and still be extremely unhappy.  What are your keys to happiness for people?
