People in China today often say: Mao Zedong enabled the Chinese to stand up, and Deng Xiaoping gave them enough to eat.

Of course, as you may find in the pages to read, Deng actually gave the Chinese more than just food. What do you think are Deng's major contributions to China's socioeconomic reform?
