 Are the Marxist explanations of the development of the current world economy (dependency theory and world system theory) satisfying? Why or why not? Even if you think neither is particularly satisfying, which of the two do you think has the most merit? Why? Do you think there is a way to remove the lingering economic effects of colonialism? What would that way look like? Acknowledging that both are problematic, do you think socioeconomic inequality at the international level (e.g., the digital divide) or at the state level (e.g., the discrimination against and marginalization of women/minorities/indigenous groups) is more problematic? Why? Which would be easier to remedy? How do you think it could be remedied?
