SIDS deaths are defined as the sudden death of an infant under one year of age that has no medical explanation. Even after a thorough investigation by law enforcement and the medical examiner, the death is considered unexplained.

Respond to the following:

Detail the steps criminal investigators must take when arriving at the scene of a possible SIDS death. Also consider current SIDS research and outline what evidence may assist the medical examiner in diagnosing a sudden child death as SIDS.
