Assignment Week 2 Identifying Independent and Dependent Variables in Nursing Research

Include submission instructions for the assignment. Instructions:

Part 1 – Concept Review

1. Define in your own words:

· Independent Variable

· Dependent Variable

2. Provide  two examples from clinical or community health practice illustrating both variables. (Example: Impact of patient education (independent) on medication adherence (dependent)).

Part 2 – Article Analysis

1. Select one recent (2019–2025)  quantitative research article from a peer-reviewed nursing or healthcare journal.

2. Summarize:

· Study purpose and population.

· The  independent and  dependent variables investigated.

· How the researchers measured each variable (data type and scale).

· The statistical test(s) used and whether they fit the variables’ measurement level.

3. Attach a PDF of your article or include the full APA citation.

(1–2 pages, APA 7th edition formatting.)

Part 3 – Application to Your DNP Project

In one paragraph, explain how you plan to identify and measure the independent and dependent variables within your DNP project or future quality-improvement initiative. Include your  measurement tools (e.g., PHQ-9, BP readings, compliance rate) and  expected relationship between variables.
