  2. Who is the intended audience for this article? How do you know? Are there textual clues? If the article is from a website, go to the “about” section and see if you can find any information about who the audience is. How do you think this specific audience impacted the author’s choices in writing this article?
  3. In your own words, what is this article about and what is the author’s main point? Is there an identifiable thesis or is the thesis implied?
  4. What compelled the writer to have this point of view and write this article? How do you know?
  5. What is the writer’s intent? What do you feel s/he hopes to accomplish in writing the article? Do you feel s/he accomplishes this purpose? Why or why not?
