3) Write an essay about your chosen artwork describing how the artist has composed the work, its intent and meaning, and the use of formal (visual) and design elements to accomplish its purpose and communicate its message. - Begin the review with some information about the artist and his/her history and concerns in his/her art-making.
ALWAYS: Use correct spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure.
ALWAYS: Write artwork titles in italics.
ALWAYS: Read your text out loud (ideally to another person) to identify errors and confusing passages.
AVOID: All direct references to your own experiences and personal feelings. Avoid the word “I”. Write in third person tense.
NEVER: Use colloquial language such as “awesome” or “mind-blowing,” or contractions, IE “don’t” for “do not.”
