Faith Ringgold paints story quilts from the perspective of an African American artist. These quilts reference both social and personal histories, drawing from Ringgold’s experiences of growing up in New York during the mid 1900s. Her quilts reference everything from the Harlem Renaissance to art history at the Louvre.

On her website (http://www.faithringgold.com/racialquestions/Links to an external site.), she conducted a survey that asked participants what would happen if you were to wake up one morning with a different racial identity.
