On a COMPUTER (not phone or tablet) open the link: https://www.arcgis.com/home/index.html

Create a PUBLIC account and then sign-in using your Google account - you will need to verify and activate your new account, check junk mail

After signing in, click on Map at the top of the website


Create a map

Add your name and last 3 digits of student # to map title

Change the Basemap to Topographic / Topographie ( the one with the red Maple leaf on it )

Pan and zoom the map to BC

Click on Add > Search for layers

Choose ArcGIS online ( Do NOT use the Living Atlas )


Add a layer that shows BC Parks and Protected areas - make sure its the WHOLE Province not just Lower Mainland.

add another layer for BC Lakes and Rivers- make sure its the water bodies NOT the monitoring sites or campgrounds.

Save your map and put your name and student id (just the last three digits) for the title. Make sure the WHOLE OF BC is visible along with the two data layers

Make a PDF map of BC with your data (data and the legend):To save it as PDF, click on the Print. Alternatively take a screenshot and paste into Word document then save as PDF

Upload your pdf map to Lab 3 submission AND add the working link to your map
