To a large extent, factors such as where we live, the state of our environment, genetics, our income and education level, and our relationships with friends and family all have considerable impacts on health, whereas the more commonly considered factors such as access and use of healthcare services often have less of an impact” (World Health Organization, 2015). Reflect on the above statement from the WHO and consider the effect of Social Determinants of Health on individuals and populations.

1. Evaluate      the social determinants (social, political, cultural, etc.) that influence      the health of individuals and populations.
2. Evaluate      the effect of social determinants of health on health outcomes of specific      populations
3. Explore      the systemic roots of SDOH and how CBPR (community based participatory      research) can help identify and address these factors.
4. Provide      evidence-based recommendations, that can be employed by public health and      healthcare professionals, in order to improve the equity in health      outcomes relevant to SDOH.
