AND
AND
Commented [ML1]: Step one asks you to turn your question into concepts. I’ve done that by adding the concepts to the first column.
Commented [ML2]: Step two has us list synonyms and related concepts to our main concepts. I’ve put those in the larger second column.
Commented [ML3]: Now we get to make search strings! First, let’s use OR to create options between our synonyms. I’d suggest using a new line or new page to write these out! We don’t want our search strings to be stuck in one concept, we want to apply some from each!
Search Menu Worksheet
“perinatal care” OR “maternal fetal care”
4) Link main concepts with AND “perinatal care” AND midwife “perinatal care” AND obstetrician OR OBGYN “perinatal care” AND “high blood pressure” “perinatal care” AND “caesarean section” 5) Utilize phrases (“”) and truncation (*) See above for phrases! Midwi* AND “perinatal care” Obstetr* AND “perinatal care”
Commented [ML4]: Do the same with AND! (My favorite boolean operator)
Commented [ML5]: Technically you can integrate step 5 anywhere in your search strings, but if you’d rather save these two tools for the end, I won’t dock points.
