Someone once shared with me that a nice friend doesn’t mention anything when you smile, but a kind friend shares politely that you have spinach stuck in your teeth after dinner. To be a strong leader, you need to be clear and kind when you communicate. If you were to share your analysis with the leader described in the case study about John, how could you include areas for improvement in a kind way? Instead of simply critiquing what did not go well or areas for growth, what resources from the professional literature could you put together?

● Assignment Create a short annotation for the source(s) that you could forward to the leader for supportive reading related to the strengths associated with the leadership style demonstrated in the situation. If it helps you to share the context you considered, you can include the email message you would write to the leader as a follow-up to your conversation about potential improvements and include the annotations and source links at the end of the email.
