Vision and Mission Analysis Assignment
Overarching Question:
Why are vision and a mission important to the overall health of your school’s culture and ultimately, to the success of your students?
Overview:
Candidates will examine their school’s vision and mission and write a 3–5-page analysis of the influence of their vision and mission on their school’s culture, behaviors, and program initiatives. Examples shall be provided that validate the analysis. This paper will also include the candidate’s recommendations to strengthen the vision and mission. Candidates shall use the overarching question and the following questions to frame their work.
· Based on what you know about the characteristics of a well-written vision and mission, how well-written are your school’s vision and mission?
· How do your school’s vision and mission influence the culture and behaviors in your school?
· What evidence shows that your collective work supports both the vision and mission?
· If your vision and/or mission include reference to “ALL students,” what evidence shows that stakeholders truly embrace the notion that “all” means all?
· How do your vision and mission meet the needs of underserved populations?
· How do your school administrators communicate the vision and mission and model behaviors that promote the importance and value of the vision and mission?
Candidates will use APA format for their final submission and cite current research or literature to support their analysis. The Gabriel & Farmer reading provides an excellent resource for assessment.
