Shakespeare Tableau

In-class activity, Tue 16 Mar, due end of class

For this in-class assignment, you are asked to make a quick but expressive piece

of art based on The Merchant of Venice.

Task: Come up with a tableau—that is, a group of figures/ characters

representing a scene from the play—to portray a specific theme, feeling, or idea

from the text.

Use any media you like (pens, pencils, markers, paints, fabrics, found objects,

minifigures, photos, digital apps), though please note the time constraint: this is a

single-period activity to be turned in at the end of class.
