l.  As fully as you can, clarify what is meant by "academic research."   What makes academic research different from research that is non-academic?

2.  Explain some of the ways you know whether a source is an academically strong one, one that is acceptable for use in an academic paper.

3.  Select one of the following broad subjects.  Spend enough time using the research tools you have learned about in this module to narrow the broad topic to a more focused, specific one, and identify your narrowed subject.  Secondly, find and list here three specific academic sources on this topic that would be acceptable for use in a research paper addressing your narrowed topic.  (Everyone's list of sources should be different.)  For each of these three sources, you must note the name of the author, the title of the work, the publication information, and the title and volume number of the publication if the source is an article.

4.  Explain the differences in the following: quoting, paraphrasing, and summarizing researched information in a paper.  Secondly, explain why all information in a paper--whether quoted, paraphrased, or summarized--must be documented.
