English (N) Week 5 This assignment includes 4 parts with the first 3 listed below and the third one attached.

Part 1

In a well-developed paragraph, address these questions: (5-7 sentences)

· What did you already know about information literacy and disinformation before you watched this week’s videos?

·  After watching the videos, reflect on what you learned that you did not know before.

·  What are some steps you will take in the future to avoid being persuaded by misinformation?

· Share an example of something you have seen on the internet in the past two weeks that you questioned. What made you suspicious? What did you do to either verify it or discredit it?

Part 2 (ACA) N

Write 3 facts about the below source

https://datausa.io/profile/university/sandhills-community-college#:~:text=The%20enrolled%20student%20population%20at%20Sandhills%20Community%20College%20is%2052,Hawaiian%20or%20Other%20Pacific%20Islanders.

Example below

Fact 1- In 2024, the cost of tuition at Sandhills Community College was $1,824. The cost of tuition at Sandhills Community College is $−6,336 less than than the overall (public and private) national average for  Associates Colleges ($8,160).

The affordable and low cost is a big reason why I chose Sandhills Community College.

Fact 2- In 2024, 312 degrees were awarded to men at Sandhills Community College, which is 0.696 times less than the number of degrees awarded to females (448).

Me being a woman myself, it makes incredibly happy to see the number of women awarded degrees so high.

Fact 3- The student demographic with the highest graduation rate in 2024 at Sandhills Community College is Female and Asian (83.3% graduation rate). Across all  Associates Colleges, Asian Female students have the highest graduation rate (75.5%).

This makes me very confident in my success rate and graduation rate for my future.

Week 5 Discussion Board

This week, you learned how to write SMART goals—goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. Now it’s your turn to apply that framework to something real in your academic journey.

Initial Post (Answer all parts in 150–200 words):

1. Write one SMART academic goal you have for yourself between now and the end of your time at Durham Tech. (Examples: complete a specific course, raise your GPA, complete a credential, meet with an advisor, apply for a program or transfer.)

2. Break down how each part of your goal fits the SMART framework (how is your goal Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound?) Be sure to explain:

· Why this goal is important to  you

· What might get in the way

· What support or strategies you’ll use to stick with it

3. Optional: If you’ve written a goal before that didn’t work out, what would you change now using the SMART format?

Avoid general goals like “I want to do better in school.” Make it personal, practical, and tied to your actual experience or plans.

Week 6 Discussion Board

Whether you're planning for your first career or starting fresh after years of work, it’s important to know how your financial goals line up with your career plans. This week, you’ll explore the Reality Check tool from NCcareers.org to see how your expected lifestyle matches up with the income needed to support it.

This activity is useful for students of all ages and backgrounds—whether you're 17 or 67, working full-time or going to school full-time, parenting, or planning to transfer. Everyone deserves a clear picture of how their education and career goals connect to real-world financial choices.

Try the Tool Go to nccareers.org/realitycheck, click “Start Here,” and walk through the prompts. You’ll make choices about your living expenses (like housing, transportation, and healthcare), then see what monthly salary you’d need, and which careers might support that salary.

Be honest with yourself. Choose a lifestyle that reflects your current reality or what you're working toward in the near future.

Initial Post (Answer all parts in 150–200 words):

· What expense(s) or budget category surprised you the most in the Reality Check, and why?

· What career(s) came up that could realistically support that lifestyle? Were they in line with your current plans, or did something unexpected come up?

· Based on this activity, are you thinking differently about your budget, career goals, or education plan?

Avoid generic answers—make it personal. Your response should reflect your lived experience and priorities.
