Discuss how the anti-slavery movement began to grow in the mid 19th century.  Imagine yourself as a white Northern shop keeper in the middle of the 19th century. Keeping in mind that, in the early 19th century, few people were in any kind of anti-slavery movement, what do you think would have been the most convincing arguments to join that movement?
